In 2017, I was the first state attorney general to challenge President Trump's efforts to trample our Constitution in court, and I was the first attorney general to defeat him. I, along with my team at the Washington Attorney General's Office, went on to defeat the first Trump Administration 55 times. We were unsuccessful in just three cases.

Given that history, I am prepared to defend Washington from any litigation you wish to pursue. If you choose to challenge me and my state, be advised that we will defeat you and seek all appropriate costs and fees.

You seem to believe that cavalierly threatening criminal prosecution will result in me compromising the values of my state.

Never.

You seek to have Washington State bend the knee to a Trump Administration that, day by day, drags us closer to authoritarianism.

Never.

I am not intimidated by you or the President. I will defend our democracy, the rule of law, and the people of my state.

Enough scapegoating of trans women by politicians who refuse to confront male violence. Enough media sensationalism that profits from hatred while women of all backgrounds suffer real harm. Enough false feminism that abandons the most vulnerable women leaving all women at greater risk. Enough of those in positions of power making harmful decisions on our behalf under the guise of “protection”. Enough allowing our voices to be co-opted by those who would divide us. Enough attempts to remove people’s bodily autonomy - claiming they don’t know their own minds.

“Here’s my challenge to journalists over the next two months: quote Trump in full,” Max Kennerly, a lawyer and legal commentator, wrote on X on Thursday, alongside a video posted by the Harris campaign of Trump’s comments. “Don’t clean him up, don’t reinterpret what he says in a more sensible way, don’t secretly editorialize. Just quote him. Let the voters see how this man’s mind doesn’t work.”

this hearing, and the overall subject of corporate greed, actually being approached at the federal level from both sides of the aisle is really nice to see. it would be wonderful for this to lead to some kind of healthcare disruption in the current status quo.
